"Nothing is better than a jury saying not guilty.  However, good lawyering frequently results in cases settling short of trial."

Norman Zalkind was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1938. He graduated from Boston College in 1960 and from Boston University Law School in 1963.

He has tried over one hundred jury trials and several hundred jury waived trials, including many high-profile cases. Mr. Zalkind has handled criminal cases involving a wide range of offenses, including first degree murder, drug crimes, extortion, bank robbery, fraud, sex crimes, white collar crime, tax evasion and arson. He has won acquittals or reduced offense convictions in over 60% of his jury trials.  He recently obtained a jury acquittal in a federal telemarketing fraud trial.

On the civil side, Mr. Zalkind has an equally broad range of experience. He has handled personal injury cases, including airplane crash torts and automobile torts. He has an active family law practice, including divorce, custody disputes and grandparent's rights disputes. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in sex harassment and race discrimination cases.  In 2001, Mr. Zalkind and Inga Bernstein won a $7.6 Million jury verdict in a sex discrimination lawsuit against the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

Mr. Zalkind taught criminal trial practice at Northeastern University Law School from 1971 to 1987, and he has lectured at Harvard Law School, Boston University School of Law and Yale Law School. In 1995 he received an award from the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for extraordinary commitment to protecting the rights and liberty of those who stand criminally accused. In 1989, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers awarded him its Champion of Liberty Award for Integrity, Fortitude and Ethical Ideals. Mr. Zalkind is a member of the Massachusetts and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a frequent commentator on controversial legal cases and issues for national and local television.
