Criminal
Out of our long-standing commitment to individual rights has grown a broad criminal defense practice in state and federal courts, at both trial and appellate levels. We represent people accused of the entire range of criminal charges:

• white collar crimes (including tax and fraud offenses);
• crimes of violence (murder to misdemeanor assaults);
• drug and firearms offenses;
• sex offenses, (rape, indecent assault, pornography and lewd conduct);
• military crimes.

We have won many victories at trial, including a recent jury verdict of not guilty in a federal telemarketing fraud, dismissal of all charges by the government in a federal extortion case and not guilty verdicts in numerous state cases. Our criminal practice includes representing juveniles in delinquency cases and persons who have been subpoenaed to appear before grand juries.

Personal Injury & Torts
We have over 35 years of experience in personal injury cases, and we have settled or obtained favorable verdicts in many very large personal injury cases. We have extensive experience not only in the judicial system, but also in administrative tribunals, in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and in pretrial negotiation. Our experience ranges across workplace, automobile and airplane accident cases.

Labor & Employment & Civil Rights
We have also been extraordinarily successful in representing clients in employment discrimination and other civil rights cases. In 2001, for example, we obtained the largest employment discrimination jury verdict in Massachusetts history and we have obtained substantial settlements in sexual harassment cases through negotiation, arbitration or mediation. We have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of cases, including discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability, and cases involving rights of free speech and association.

Appellate
Our appellate practice has included several appearances in the United States Supreme Court and frequent appearances in the federal Courts of Appeals and in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court.

Other Litigation
We also represent individuals and business entities in business litigation and before licensing boards and we represent students and faculty in university discipline cases. We have a growing practice representing clients convicted of sex offenses before the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board.

Family
We represent clients in complicated divorce and post-divorce cases involving division of substantial assets, alimony, child support and custody of minor children. We have special expertise in representing professional athletes and other celebrities and in handling child custody and asset division issues for same-sex and unmarried couples.
